Sometimes the haemorrhoid condition reaches to such a stage that only surgical treatment will make sense. External piles if get thrombosed need immediate surgical intervention because of severe pain. Thankfully, Ayurveda has some Para/surgical techniques for the permanent treatment of piles. Two of the best ones are as follows:

  1. Kshar Sutra Technique.

A specially prepared thread (kshar sutra) is used to cure the disease. It acts as a ‘Herbal Chemical cauterization’ and removes the disease permanently. A surgical linen thread of size 20 is manually coated with the latex of Euphorbia neriifolia 11 times, and then 7 coatings of latex and the alkaline powder of Achyranthus aspera, and dried. Then 3 coatings of powder of curcuma longa and latex are given alternatively.

The thread gradually cuts through the fistulous tract from apex to periphery. It cuts as well as heals the tract at the same time and no pus is left behind. The thread is an anti-inflammatory and antislough agent. It also does chemical curetting. The thread does not allow any bacteria to multiply or any pathogens to invade any cavity.

It is performed under local anaesthesia.

Around 30-45mins only required for the procedure.

Minimum hospital stay and bed rest.

In just 3-5 days daily routine of the patient can resume.

    Very less recurrence rate.

The possibility of anal incontinence is not there.

  2. Agnikarma.

Thermal cautery, or agnikarma, is an ancient technique which means the application of Agni (heat) to the affected part. Heat is transferred to the affected parts in an asceptic manner using a metal rod. These metal rods create therapeutic burns. It is an effective and a natural cure for piles, especially the bleeding piles. Even the assistance of Kshar karma, an acidic agent, can be taken in this procedure.

    The types of Agnikarma are:

    1. Durdaghda/ inappropriate burning surgery.
    2. uchchh dagdha /scarce agni karma.
    3. Samyak dagdha / appropriate agni karma.
    4. Aati dagdha /powerful or excess cauterization.
  3. Agnikarma treatment never fails and success is guaranteed in it.
